Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Merging bathroom / toilet

I’m looking at merging the bathroom and toilet into one room. I could also bring the hallway wall (about 50cm) in a bit to also add some space. Where I’m getting stuck is that I don’t want to move too much around in the bathroom where plumbing is involved, to keep costs lower. However it means the vanity sits below two different sized windows (they don’t match up with each other) and I couldnt hang a mirror.

Any great ideas on a) a mirror solution or b) creating one window from the two (house is brick) or c) am I better to mess around with the layout and move e.g. the toilet?

Did you post this in the Australian forum ( in settings) as you will get more responses if you did.
If this was in the NZ forum, ( I don't know where you are based) it'll be tumble weeds!

When we lived in Australia, we had exactly the same problem with our children's bathroom. We changed the wall between into a low pony wall, and converted the window behind the toilet into a storage cupboard for toilet paper and other bathroom supplies. We also put in a pocket door like you have and a fresh new shower curtain over the bath/shower. I've attached some photos which I hope helps.

Third vote for getting a professional involved, but i'll still offer my layman's suggestion given that you're just soliciting general ideas at this point. If it was my space, I'd switch the bathroom and the laundry room around, keeping just one of the walls currently enclosing the toilet. Its hard to estimate precise measurements from the drawing, so it may not be feasible, but here's what i mean

Personally, it's better to have a wall between the bathroom and the toilet so no one gets walked in on. Definitely a good idea to keep the bath in case of reselling, although are you planning on going anywhere? If not, get rid of the bath and get a bigger shower I think.

We have a 900x900 shower and it's plenty big enough. Neither of your proposed layouts looks that great, to be perfectly honest, sorry! In the first layout, you could improve it quite a lot by swapping the toilet and vanity (centre the toilet under the window on the bottom right of the picture if possible), and having the shower door on the other wall (beside the door). Then, you could have a towel rail on the wall beside the door (i.e. behind the door when it's open), which would be accessible from the shower but hidden when the door was open. An 800x1200 shower might be a good size for your space. You'd have to choose a toilet that doesn't protrude too far, plus a narrow vanity. With that layout, you could have a long but narrow wall-hung vanity, with a big mirror covering the wall between the windows, which would make the room feel bigger and would give a good amount of storage.
