Painting a small room white does not make it look larger or more open. Nearly all bathrooms are by definition tiny and yet many of them look amazing even if the darkest wall colours. I suspect that bathroom pictured has a feature wall to contain costs more than for design purposes. A herringbone tile design is more expensive than other options. White tiles are so popular in bathrooms because they are the cheapest option and a safe choice. Not necessarily because they are a design statement. No-one ever complains about a white bathroom in a house.

If you are wanting to recreate that look do it to the letter. You have a similarly sized room, it will work. You're not going to get a warm look by choosing a grey colour scheme. But you could use towels and maybe cane baskets to break up the monotone vibe. You could also choose matte brass tapware instead of the black.

Only tile where necessary in your choice of colour and tile, painting the other walls white is a good start and easy to change in a few years if wanting a bit of a different look.

As per your top photo using a timber look vanity will add all the warmth you will need

I like a mix of tiles and plaster. Think about reducing size of window so you don’t need to leave blind partway down as in your photo. With your current window I would either tile to ceiling behind bath or create a narrow ledge part way up and tile to that height. My sister did that adding a timber ledge to match vanity lieu of a niche. Oak also warms up the room offsetting the grey. Add niche into shower on other wall.

Your house appears to be an older home with beautiful high ceiling and large window. If you require privacy I would change the glass to a frosted or if positioned away from the shower, white shutters on the lower half would work

This bathroom is a classic example of tiling and paint, Shower walls in a bathroom like yours with high ceilings will need the tiling to go up to the height of the door trim only.
