Its totally down to personal preference. I hate mixers because I find it difficult to find just the right position for the temp I want and the pressure flow. But if you're elderly with bung wrists then they are a godsend. IF I were installing a new shower I would go fancy and put in a temp and flow controller and have my perfect shower at the touch of a button.

I remember when I was is Japan the showers seemed to be a horizontal bar with one handle controlling the temp and the other controlling the flow rate. Is that the kind of thing you refer to Black Bamboo?
I must say they were the best showers I have had in my life. So powerful and perfect temperature!
Do you think that having a mixer reduces water pressure, being that both cold and hot travel through the same pipe. Or is that not true?

Which do you prefer to use? If you’re going for a modern look you have lots of choices in either style. It’s more difficult to find a range of traditional mixers.

Weve decided to go seperate, because we like the look. We had mixers in our last house and we were happy with them, but just doing something different this time.

Mixers every time. Much easier. I know what position I need for shower to be perfect each time as I can see where it is. No turning tap off too hard

I have a mixer, much prefer it to taps.

Only purchase tapware with a 15-year warranty ( or one now with a 20-year warranty )

Many of the combined o/head and handheld, units have some plastic components and are difficult to clean

Only one tap to clean around instead of two...... Mixer every time for me!

Definitely go with a mixer.

I renovated my bathroom last year and chose a Roca mixer for the shower. So much better than separate taps.

With separate taps you're constantly adjusting both to get the right temperature. And if someone uses water elsewhere in the house, the temp changes and you're adjusting again. Super annoying

Mixer is one handle - set it once and you're done. Way more convenient, especially mornings when you're half asleep. Looks cleaner too.

Only downside is mixers cost a bit more upfront, but totally worth it for the convenience.

Save yourself the hassle, go mixer.
