1 m is a walkway and insufficient for seating. I’d have at least 3 m for lounge chairs.

We have revised plan to make deck longer and also put an indoor shower in as well. Presently we have a 3x2 home but this home office can be a multi functional room in the future. A second bedroom to make it a 4x2 or gym or retreat etc...Please give feedback, negative if need be. Plans need to be submitted tomorrow. 🙃🙃🙃
We know that by increasing pool deck, we decrease grassed area at other end of pool but not sure how usable pool area will be if it doesn't have a decent deck to place a chair or two. what are your thoughts? 🏝

I agree with dreamer, it's all being focused on the office instead of the house and alfresco. You could have large sliding doors opening to the pool from the office with the addition of a glass balustrade across them, this allows great visual between the it and the pool. For me the external shower is in the wrong position and should be positioned to be closer to the laundry and use the same plumbing as is within the Office

Grass is great and much cooler, if it is at a level to allow you to see pool I would use that area for seating.

Thank you! on our original plan we had sliding doors @siriuskey but thought it may look funny having a glass balustrade straight in front? Thus we switched to awning. So shall we keep the deck at 1m? essentially a walk way? and just watch across from alfresco. You're completely right, we are so close to it from alfresco. Could you please sketch in your idea for the home office?

Questions before submission

1. Do we switch from large awning window to sliders?
2. Where do we place the outdoor shower? hubby would like it fairly private? Is that what people like in an outdoor shower?
3. In the future, this home office could potentially be used as a multi functional room. It also gives option as a 4th bed, (currently we have 3x2) Shall we revise plan to include indoor shower? The flooring will be concrete so when dripping pool guests use the toilet, it'll be fine.

ideally you would be best to have an indoor shower as well for possible future bedroom etc plus a simple outdoor shower which the whole family loves along with tradies coming home from a hard days work. Our family uses our simple outdoor shower all year round, we live on the mid north coast. I will show you some examples. but this might be of interest using large sliding door back across a fixed panel, your steps go in the other direction but this could give some possible ideas on how to do it using frameless glass balustrade

Hi beamitchell, can you post the rear end of your current house plan showing the house with studio and pool. Our outdoor shower is next to the house near the clothes line and laundry so that wet togs and towels can either be hung on the clothes line or dumped in the laundry. Our holiday villa was the same, better not to have the shower within the pool area so that it can be freely used by all ages at all times and not having to worry about someone falling into the pool. Our family prefers using the outdoor shower over the internal ones.

food for thought re shower placement. makes sense but not sure where we would put outdoor shower as we only have 1.2m access adjacent to a 2x1 granny flat.

hubby would like shower to be a feature. A nice tropical style shower. true re younger kids. hubby is a tradie (plumber) good idea re laundry. originally we were thinking of putting a washing machine in the "home office" or MFR. we live in Perth so it's hot summers, mild winters but a bit cold to outdoor shower throughout year I would think.

yes clothes line next to laundry ( I guess) haven't thought about it! but where the laundry is probably will be. we will have a dryer. we have 1.2m on laundry walk way and approx 2m on other side.

Thank you everyone on advice and feedback received. I really appreciate it. This forum has some amazing contributors who are obviously very passionate and talented with design and thinking critically. I have amended the changes suggested. I just want to check in re layout of office to ensure its ok. We have gone back to having sliding doors. These are east facing. We will have a skillion roof.

If a pool house or an office are non-habitable rooms we will go back to the original position of the pool fence outside the pool house/office entry door (as per plan) with the gate parallel with the pool length if possible or second marked position if not.
 

We want to stick with the shower behind the powder room and store (600 x 900) in lieu of (650 x 900) to the office.

Increase width of office by 165mm as per plan.

Make pool deck 1500 or 1600 if need be in lieu of 2200 as per previous email and shift pool accordingly keeping same length.

Reduce width of pool by 100mm. i.e. 3250 in lieu of 3350.

Pool fence to be fitted 500 past the end of the pool with pool cover recess between the end of the pool and the pool fence as per plan.

Pool fence to be fitted 500 to the house side of the pool to allow access around the pool and to the pool cover at the end.

Pool fence should still line up with the brickwork on the office due to pool width reduction 100mm, increase in office width 165mm and move office entry door to the left if possible.

You could consider placing it on the wall of the studio at the bottom of the steps, the laundry and clothes line is too far away, You could add a towel line next to the shower the toilet in the studio needs to give easy access to swimmers as the others are too far away, thanks for the dimensions

I was going to suggest that the shower and hanging for togs and towels be placed in the red zone using the pool house plumbing. It looks great where you have it but it should have somewhere for the togs and towels as kids will use them several times a day in hot weather. If the Pool House was a POOL house and open to the pool would that mean you could just fence it and the pool together, but I guess by being multi function that changes the rules

@siriuskey i love that idea! moving shower to there. can make it a nice feature outdoor shower. more usable and like you suggested previously fence it off from pool to be used by all ages what do u think?

@siriuskey we have moved shower, however do you think its ok that there is no privacy screen? we don't have the room so hubby said to fix it on side of office wall with towel rail installed next to it?

If there's o room for a screen a shower wouldn't fit? ca you show the space and dimensions
