After the worst drought in 30 years - good to get some rain. Loving the chandelier

Hi everyone, we have moved in! We didn't manage to paint before we moved and think we will go for a staged approach - above the wood panels first in a warm white then decide on the panels. I'm having a bit of trouble working out what kind of sofa to buy and how at arrange the lounge. All furniture except coffee table temporary in photos and would love some ideas!

For your planting advice, I suggest you call Merrifield Garden Center to see if they will come out your way. They currently have wonderful garden centers in Merrifield and Fairfax (both in Fairfax County) and a new one in Gainesville, but they may come further south to wherever you reside. (www.MerrifieldGardenCenter.com) Even if they don't send designers to your area, they are worth a trip to see their huge selection for a day of pleasure and inspiration, or to pick up some plants. You DO have a steep slope to deal with! The tree roots will help stabilize the soil and make a mudslide less likely. If you cannot mow the lawn safely, terrace the area (think Machu Pichu) into garden beds for flowers or vegetables. Do you want your children to play on a grassy area or on a man-made surface? Be sure that the play area has shade during the hottest part of the day. Best wishes.
