New Build - Exterior Colour

We are building a new home, similar to the one below. Have chosen the colour scheme but would like some opinions.
Roof - Colourbond Ironstone
Weatherboards - Miller Mood
Trim/windows - Lexicon
The front door - we are thinking Ironstone

Comments (8)Hi, I know there are so many things to take into account and it's hard to get perspective from a photo. The white you can see is an extension with building paper, and the red is the existing building which is two story. The exterior is wide weatherboard planking, the windows are silver aluminium with very little trim. The doors in the front of the picture are French doors from bedrooms that will open to an enclosed courtyard ( yet to be built of course) The roof will be a light grey/brown but you won't see it much because of the flat roof style. Comments (15)I don't know how hot it gets in Auckland in summer (I've only ever been to NZ in winter!) but if it gets hot, then go for a pale colour. Dark roofs should be kept for cold places!...See MoreI need advice with flooring in new build.

Comments (0)Are there any rules to follow regarding choosing exterior colours, ie, someone once told me that there should never be more than three colours, regarding the roof, walls and trims. Building a modern monoplane roof house on the coast. Like the idea of either Gull Grey or New Denim Blue for the metal roof. The interior pallette will be whites, inky navy, greys. Drawn towards grey for the weatherboard walls or white, prefer a black door. Although this is a modern house we are trying to inject a bit of modern farmhouse decor inside. 3 years agoThanks Fianou. The front door will look similar to this but in Ironstone. The pops of colour will be added with potted plants and we are planning on planting lots of deciduous trees which will provide lots of beautiful autumn colours, sun in winter and shade in the summer months.
