Mine often look like that at the end of summer due to the heat and lack of rainfall, though that's not the case this summer. It surprises me because I thought furry grey plants are supposed to be very heat tolerant. It's not in patches though, if there has been a long hot dry spell they all show the effects. So I'm looking at your picture and wondering what could cause one specific patch. Is it possible a dog has been rolling in it or something like that maybe?
