Laundry - Bathroom Reno
We have a 3 bedroom single (ground) level unit, 1 bathroom with bathtub and separate toilet. This is the first time we're undertaking a renovation and would like some ideas and any input would be appreciated.
As a reference we live in Melbourne and the unit is on stumps.
We have a laundry 2.289m length, 1.585m width which we would like to convert into:
- Option 1 - Add an extra toilet in this laundry space, keep the existing laundry through as is
- Option 2 - Convert laundry into bathroom, toilet with laundry. Move walls & door
- Option 3 - Add a benchtop, give the laundry a facelift, but also add a toilet

Comments (8)It all depends on what you want to do in your laundry and what in your bathroom I guess. I appreciate the fact that there might not be enough space to do this but I store outdoor shoes in the laundry and the dog's leash and cleaning stuff. I need room to sort the dirty laundry into piles before washing it. I keep the ironing board in there and I need a tub to wash things in and to do flowers in and to put the odd cloth that wiped up the cat sick before it gets rinsed and washed.. heaps of things other than just washing. Couldn't manage with a cupboard laundry ( piles of washing on the hall floor when using it) and think these kinds of laundry functions might not make a gorgeous lavendery bath or shower feel that luxurious. So I am for as big a laundry with tubs, cupboard and bench nearest the outside back entrance and yes washing line as poss. And a lovely fresh warm bathroom near the bedroom separate from the dirty clothes and boots and all that other stuff....See MoreNeed help with our bathroom reno plans please!
Comments (2)Personally, it's better to have a wall between the bathroom and the toilet so no one gets walked in on. Definitely a good idea to keep the bath in case of reselling, although are you planning on going anywhere? If not, get rid of the bath and get a bigger shower I think....See MoreHandle-less kitchen? 2 years agoWorking with 2400, the following idea, a 3 bedroom unit would benefit from a separate toilet, you could add a recessed hand basin but a good looking laundry and sink would cover that.. If the toilet was moved back into what is the laundry cupboard this would give a possible window, this space would then be transferred into the bathroom as a linen cupboard it would also place the doorway into the toilet in a better position.
Alternatively you could leave access to the toilet via the bathroom, still keeping the toilet moved back to enable a window/ or not
The family bathroom would then have a decent vanity and bath with shower over.
The ensuite would have a 1400 shower with a toilet backing onto the separate toilet which should allow for easier plumbing, plus an exterior window
