Don’t paint. Change bench-top, this will make the biggest impact. If you can match the splashback tile, chisel out the duck tiles and replace otherwise replace whole splashback with something nicer. change door knobs,

Put some type of plasterwork above the overhead cupboards to the ceiling - this will make it look cleaner & more modern. You can get a stone veneer that goes over existing benchtops, you can then paint or even re-tile over the existing tile. Change door knobs. For flooring there are vinyl/laminate wood look flooring that can be laid over tiles

We did an upgrade/uplift of our kitchen earlier this year. We had new stone benchtops installed over the top of our existing laminate. For this to happen, we had to remove our tile backsplash (crowbar and hammer) and cut back our existing bench’s until they were nearly flush with our cabinets. I can see in you photos that your benchtops overhangs by some way (as did ours). Consider that for a new benchtop on top of an old one, it adds at least 20mm (depth of the stone) beyond your existing bench, hence the need to cut it back. The benefits of keeping your existing bench is that it forms the substrate for the new stone and makes installion “easier”. I also had new appliances and a new sink added. To make life easier, I ensured that my new sink fit within the existing cutout from my original sink. This process was made even easier as my new sink sits on top of my new stone. Was a matter of my sparky/plumber removing existing sink and tap ware, new bench being installed, sparky/plumber fitting new sink and taps.

Your bench tops can be replaced , leaving your cupboards which you can then paint . The bench people will make a pattern and cut out the space for your new sink of choice . Have a look around at different styles and prices . Depending on the sink configuration, you may need to adjust / cut your shelving underneath . Your plumber will install the sink and mixer after the bench installation. The bench people should be able to remove your bench and leave the splash back tiles intact . These you could regrout . The cheaper option bench is laminate which would be made the same thickness as your original . If done in stone they will height pack underneath so that you retain the space between cupboard and tiles . The packing you can paint white with your cupboards . From what I have read , leave your floor tiles unpainted . They look a nice pattern and colour so again you could regrout for a fresh look . You may be able to buy or hire equipment to remove grout . My home Reno has had the old laminex replaced with packed stone , and the tiles and cupboards are intact as I wanted to retain both . I have a big new double sink and mixer .

1. Go for it, prep is essential make sure everything is clean and holes ect have been filled in. Don't forget to number your doors so you know where they belong when you go to put them back. Use an undercoat. Don't skip steps.

2. Easily done and look for some online they can work out cheaper i.e facebook marketplace. If you keep the handle holes in existing cupboards make sure new ones fit or fill the holes before painting.

3. Don't paint it, that looks cheap and your going to touch it. They say "ready to use in 48 hours" No, no its not and its always dependant on the temp of your room. Replace it, should cost under $1000 for diy. If you want a trade add another $700 - $1800. They measure and order and cut and replace. It will take them less than an hour. It will take you maybe all day unless your pretty good already.

4. If you get a new benchtop (highly recommend) just get a new sink and make sure it will be suited for your sink cabinet. If you decide to keep the bench, you will have to get a sink in similar size. Make sure the tap sits over the sink and it is possible to do all this yourself.

5. Get stick on tiles as they can just sit on top and they aren't that thick.

6. Same with this, use stick on tiles for now.

This is all quick fix and budget ways to update, how long it lasts is dependant on your use, your maintenance and the materials you use . i.e don't use cheap paint and follow after care instructions for all materials.

Install a new modern light !
