Have you spoken to a tiler to make sure they can get the correct fall on an existing slab? You may need a lip at the entry, which may or may not be a problem for you. For the door - do you have to have a fixed panel? You can get barn door style shower screens which would run from wall to wall and give you a bigger access opening, with the bonus of keeping in heat.

Thanks bigreader. Other than the guy who gave the original quote I haven't spoken to anyone. It will be easier once the tenants are out and I'm in (August). I do recall reading on one of the threads here about lips (slipped my mind) and having one wouldn't be an issue. I like the look (and price) of one panel, frameless, but a sliding door isn't off the cards if it makes more sense, practicality wise. Keeping in heat isn't an issue, I live in far north Queensland and never close the 3 panel sliding door I have. Appreciate your help

with proper waterproofing and only one regular user i would use a 1500 x 900 shower tray or tiled floor and use my favourite shower curtain to create a much more generous shower space without the cost, cleaning and restricted doorway of a glass screen and use the savings for a 900 wide vanity...a plumber should be able to rearrange the drain pipes to suit both shower and vanity but consult the the plumber before buying the final choices...(shower rail same as existing but curtain will need to be taller not standard 1800 and 2100 tall shower curtains are readily available on line if none available locally ..

Hi oklouise. My issue is I don't have the 900 to use, I only have 800 and if I could find one that is 800 my problem would be solved. Sorry, my hand drawn plan isn't the best. I guess I could always go with a narrower screen and use a curtain as well. Just a thought. Appreciate your idea.

the 900 could be at the floor and the shower curtain beside the window at 800 wide ie the shower floor is wider than the window height part of the shower to allow for a shower tray but a walk in tiled floor would be best if there could be enough slope

Hi Kate. Well I figured I'd put a small bin between and hang my hand towel on the side. Plus a smaller vanity means there is less chance of me leaving my stuff on the top and I would have to put it away. Looks like I will be leaning towards a door, now just depends on what style. You do realise that your wall tiles will need to be removed as well as the floor tiles ?

I initially assumed you would have the shower head on the 'far' wall ( the same one as the window ) but I just wondered -- if you have the shower head in the 'side' wall , and with a 1000 long glass side ( effectively , the shower coming out of the dining room wall , pointing at the glass wall ) and had the tiles right forward to the cupboard , and a low lip at the shower entrance , would you lose any water out the opening ?

It took a bit for me to picture what you're saying, but I got there eventually. I'm not a splasher so probably not. I've spent the day trawling realestate. com. au and found a property that has a bathroom about the same size as mine. However, I would still have the vanity directly under the window. In the end I will go with the option that removes the least amount of money from my savings account :)

Sorry I wasn't clear , but I think you have misunderstood what I was getting at .

If you kept the shower in the position you showed it , with the 1000 long glass and the 490 opening , and a lip across the opening -- the 'accepted' thing would be to place the showerhead at the far end . BUT if you had it on the right wall , angled down obviously , but pointing towards the glass side , you would get less water splashing out , thereby possibly avoiding the need to have a door ? Ironically too , having that shower narrower ( 800 wide ) will help contain the water .

I did understand, I drew a layout of what you were suggesting. That would work find for me being a shorty but if my brother was ever to use it, it wouldn't take much for him to run out of room. You can't walk to the left (away from window) because you'd lose the water and you can't go forward or you're gonna walk into a glass panel. That's the way I see it, correct me if I'm wrong.
