Buy a couple of pale sand,pale blue, white throw rugs for your two,recliner chairs. Then they will blend in with most choices.

Can you put the chairs elsewhere and buy a new sofa that seats four in your preferred colour?

Thx dreamer, it’s a great suggestion, but husband barely tolerates the cushions and throw I have on the couch. No way will he go for one on “his chairs” 🙂. Same, big reader. They were a bit of an investment, and worth it for the comfort and how well they’re holding up, but relegating them to an unused bedroom is not going to fly. I’m hoping there would be a different style/finish that would complement them, maybe?

A small sofa between chairs or a small table showing off your gorgeous chairs would look fabulous if your room is large enough.

Well, if the chairs are comfortable and are not going to be tolerated with throw rugs, then just put up with the dark colour. You have said that the rest of the colour palette in your room will be pale blue, pale sand, and white, Then maybe the chairs are a welcome contrast.

Purchase a two seater lounge that is not pale sand, or pale blue, or white......but with a textured fabric which incorporates all these colours including the darkness of your recliner chairs.

I bought similar chairs for my mum. They are so comfy and don’t need cushions. Your new sofa should tie in tonally with the chairs. Need to have some strength to their colour and look. Dreamers top fabric or leather would work.

Hey Julie Herbert, thank you so much. You’ve given me lots of inspiration, exactly what I needed. Not a lot of photos of how our chairs have been styled but the Eames chairs are so similar in overall ‘look’ and there are numerous pics of them. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Why didn’t I think of that 😉. And yes, we have the room, so a 2 1/2 sofa between them and a similar large 3 or four seater at a 90 degree angle is how I’m might go. Thank you again.

Hey Kate, thank you too. Yes they are really comfortable chairs. The Scandinavians sure know design. I think you’re right about choosing the right texture and I think that was were I was getting stuck. At least on the right track now and that’s such a relief
