Renovating
Budget
Hi Houzz community , I'm just looking for some guidance and advice about an average budget for a full home renovation?
Trying to decide if it's worth buying an older/dated property and spending money on renovating it vs going up to our purchase limit for an already renovated property (price to be decided based on relative cost of reno).
I'd expect the type of renovation needed to involve things like painting, updating bathrooms and revamping kitchen (Is this possible for $100k??) Maybe even getting council approval for an additional level (though this sounds more expensive $200k+??). Probably don't have the timeline for a knock down rebuild so hoping a reno would take less time. We have no DIY skills or capacity so would be hiring professionals.
I know things do depend on details, finishings and specifics but wanted to know what ballpark figures to expect! We'd be going for modern finishings, premium but not necessarily luxury.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated! Complete beginner here!
