Sliding shutters in small media room

Hi all,

I have a sliding door in a small media room that needs a window treatment. One family member is pushing for sliding plantation shutters however, I'm very concerned that the hard material will cause an echo in a small media room. Also, they won't effectively block out light. And finally, the window doesn't have an architrave or anything on it - I think it's called square set. How are sliding plantations installed - someone said the top tracks don't need a bulk head over them or a frame - but I don't think this sounds correct from all the installation videos I've watched.

So, would be a better window treatment for a small media room sliding door - I don't mind curtains or vertical blinds. But is there a type/brand/style that would be better than others?

Many thanks.

Thick curtains give the best result. But if you want to draw them back need some wall space beside window, Sliding door works best to pull curtain to one side

Good tips, thank you. There's definitely some wall space on either side of the window. I like curtains but just wasn't sure if they would be too heavy looking in a small room.
