Hi Teresa, are you painting the eaves also? That will affect your choice. Colours vary and can be very deceptive, but on my screen it’s coming up as a muddy yellow for example, so take this into consideration when reading the answers to your question. I love the look of the gable on the second house, but if you don’t like white as the background, perhaps consider ironstone in quarter or half strength, with the timber in full strength or vv. Luckily it’s a relatively small area, if you really don’t like the colour you choose, a fix shouldn’t be too time consuming or expensive

The eaves were not painted and do certainly look a muddy yellow 😞 If we paint the eaves, what colour should it be.

Roof looks great, you could paint it if you prefer, but I wouldn’t add decorative wood as it will date your house especially on a white background, you could add on if painted ironstone love the idea of plantation shutters. You could keep your eaves white, although in our old house we had a dark roof, dark window frames and the eaves were painted dark also, it looked fabulous, it’s really a matter of choice.

I think it would look stunning Teresa doing your eaves dark, our inside window frames were white with plantation shutters also, it looked really lovely both inside and out, the dark eaves complimented the bricks and highlighted the windows.
