Electrical Advice Exhaust Fan (Australia)

last year

Hi all,
Hoping for advice before I call my sparky.
I was gifted these extraction fan / lights. https://www.beaconlighting.com.au/productpdf/pdf/download/product_id/13824/?srsltid=AfmBOop6xM_SXjJc-w8QcF_MMDqTx3URPeF2Ma_FsjVMYwXPZjuYtuer
Currently I have plug in exhausts (in my ensuite (broken now) and bathroom which is just a fan. No light. Which was easy to diy as it had a dedicated GPO power point in the roof. These are the 3rd replacements. The ones I have been gifted are not plug in, however much better quality! Keen to use them but prefer to ask you guys before calling the sparky.
Is it possible to convert them to plug in? Keeping it simple I'm happy for the fan and light to come on together otherwise I'm guessing cost is extra for hookups to extra switch.
I've actually got the double switch and plugs (plug tops) on hand.
How difficult is it to convert them? The units individually have 2 sets of wires (one for fan | one for light) one blue and one brown wire for the fan. One blue and one brown wire for the light.
I was told it's possible to join the wires together 2 blue 2 brown and plug top on the end.
Anyhow not messing around with it but I would like to be informed before asking the sparky.
Thanks in advance and appreciate you all 🙏

Yes a licensed electrician can change hard wired appliances to plug in and most likely make it work as you want. The cost to do so may outweigh the value of the fans. If you already know an electrician ask them their rough cost. If you don’t know one you may struggle to get them for a small job.

Yes unfortunately a cost thing. If I go ahead with these, I will be engaging an electrician. I just prefer to know the ins and outs before getting quotes.

Ok. Come back and post how you go. It will be handy for other people to know the process and cost.

This is a small job, I would suggest checking if you need any other electrical work to make the most of the callout fee.
