Or wrap the lower part of door including understand in a sheet of thin aluminium .

Or stainless steel. Did you install an overhead cover for the door?

And look into repainting the entire door, including the underneath at the base, with a waterproof membrane paint.

Are you sure it is a sold door not laminate. Needs sanding back and coating in sealer and oil based paint including bottom edge.

The edging on the door doesn’t look like it’s an exterior door. Did you have an external building inspection before handover?

See Dreamer's first reply. The picture is one of their products but Raven has a whole range of different types depending on what you want and how much you want to pay.

I notice on your other post, a picture of the door in question. You need to install a cover over the top of the door. Get something made to fit the space and around the down pipe. You also have the entire space concreted, and there is only the small drain for the water to drain away. This entire area seems to have issues of no forward thought about natural water drainage. Brick pavers or permeable pavers may of been a better solution for ground work.

referring back to your post on the 14th October 2024. requesting ideas to protect your garage external door. options were given, and now your door has swollen from water damage. I suggest you look seriously into stopping the water from hitting the door in the first place.

@dreamer there are two drains in concrete area and the slope made to drain water towards the drains.

That is good.

As this is such a new build I’d be seeking resolution from the builder. Particularly if the wrong door has been used. It will be a waste of money affixing products to the wrong type door.

Good do that and add a weather strip to bottom to divert water

If that’s a solid door I’m a goldfish. If you’re paying a trade to fix it then they’ll give you an unbiased opinion on causes and rectification.

And make sure he takes the door off and paints the bottom edge

He says 'solid'? Solid, not glass, a style descriptor? Or solid not hollow, a functional descriptor?

Your builder might be using the interpretation that benefits him not you. Cheap doors installed externally are a very easy cost cutting exercise for builders because when they're painted, who can tell. We the owners find out later.
