@Tribbletrouble44152k7 Trek, no not necessarily.. it fulfills it's purpose if you buy the one that is correct for what you want it for.. a bit of a catch22 and up to the store to point out that the thin stuff may dent.. in fact any of it can... there are many things that will void warranty of laminate floors.. here is a good website dealing with the cleaning and care .. http://www.baneclene.com/articles/laminate-care-consumer.html Remove shoes with spiked or damaged heels before walking on the floor. Spike or stiletto high-heel shoes may cause denting and related damage to wood floors due to the extremely high compressive force they generate. Such footwear can produce dynamic loads in excess of 1,000 pounds per square inch, even when worn by someone of slight or average build. Worth reading the whole thing.. Just worth reminding people that laminate flooring is mdf with a picture of wood printed on the surface with a couple of protective layers of clear coating over the top..it cannot be wet or steamed.. it will swell. Make sure you ask questions.. Wood vinyl planking is very durable and hardy, and bamboo is considered to be one of the strongest timbers.. if you choose to have floors redone with any of the above products please look them up on google and find out the qualities.. I vote for wood vinyl.. looks brilliant, can float or be glued (recommend glue for wet areas such as bathrooms, laundries) is hard wearing and cost is comparable with mid range wood laminate flooring and hardier. Hope that all helps. If you must have wood laminate then go for 10 - 12 mm.. anything less will flex. Must have underlay and be laid on a level floor.. There are self levelling compounds you can use to make this easier... hope all this helps.

Thanks Courtney for the suggestion! Will grab of a sample of the colours and take a closer look. We like a Tranquil retreat or grey pebble but not really not sure about which tones is appropriate, especially if going for the loft/industrial look with black windows. Tried goggling red brick, terracotta roof, black windows and couldn't find much.

Two things come to mind; -it is possible that there are two separate files and you have received only one. It may depend on the way the properties have been legally defined. Having two addresses is not necessarily the same as two legal titles. Check the type of title and whether it has been subdivided, cross leased etc. this should be on your title which you will have got a copy of when you purchased. If you do not know where that is, you can get a new copy from Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) for just a few dollars. I would also phone the council and ask them to check whether there is more than one file that could relate to your property. I think they would be helpful with that request. - this goes back to before the 1990s, when we got permits rather than Building Consents, and less information was required to be submitted. The older the files, the less complete they are likely to be.I would not expect to get complete information on work done in the 1960s, but you can hope for it.

I'm not a builder or an expert . The downstairs looks easy -- obviously you want exactly the same width and profile -- take 1 or 2 boards off the end of the house , add new boards , paint the entire thing . The garage will 'hide' the existing side wall , so that can be left as it is , relined , painted , whatever you want , as its now an 'internal' wall . Upstairs though is trickier -- I assume there are horizontal weatherboards along the side of the house , so adding across and 'around the corner' would be more difficult , but not impossible -- it will take more labour and a bit more materials . At the end of the day , talk to your builder -- they are the one that will asked , so if they say No , pretty much the end of the conversation -- you accept , or you look for another builder , who hopefully says yes , and even more hopefully , actually can do it haha !
