Has the home been built yet, with plumbing and electrical finalised? If not, this is my suggestion. Remove the pantry and linen WIL cupboard, have a built in cupboard with hinged doors for linen/storage only. Too much space is wasted on that side of the room. Place your dining setting on that side of room. Turn the island and add extra wall cabinets for kitchen. Changing the placement of oven/cooktop to bottom of the plan. Make the fridge space the correct size for your existing fridge, and bench space and a pantry along the left hand wall. Sink in the island. I would also change the laundry external sliding door to a hinged door, and install a window on the washing machine side, or even a full bench top if you have a front loader.

If the home is already built, you will need new electrical in the existing pantry for the fridge, and water if required. If you don’t mind having the fridge in the entry hall, then have it that way. The pantry, linen area and vacant space on the plans, is a waste of space, and really by your plans, just a walkway to other rooms. At first glance this area could be better set out.

Short answer is put the fridge where it fits. You may need to make the space deeper to ensure it sits flush with halfway

It is an existing house so i will need to pull out shelving, have an electrician rewire and put in new cabinetry to match the rest of the kitchen. I agree that the layout isnt making the most of the space!

What is the current surrounding of existing fridge space? Laminate cabinet partition or brick? If a laminate partition, I would cost up to reconfigure the existing fridge space, against converting the existing pantry space in the hallway. Or is the current fridge space just a open space? Photos would be a great help, can then give informed suggestions with correct information.

HU-495…., how big is your fridge, the space in the photo looks like a standard 900mm-1000mm alcove. The placement of the fridge in the photo is the best working kitchen option. I would tend to agree with bigreader. You could Sell your black fridge and buy a new stainless steel fridge that would coordinate with other permanent appliances.

The space is about 900 wide wide, fridge is 950. Its only out by a small amount, but out nonetheless. It may come down to selling the fridge - but you get next to nothing for second hand fridges unfortunately.

And being a black glass fridge, it might be even harder to sell.

You could give your fridge away for virtually nothing and still be ahead financially over reconfiguring cabinetry and electrics. Unless you have trades in the family or could DIY.
