See image attached. This shows our living area which opens onto a covered alfresco. How could we put skylights or Velux style windows into this roof? Notice the roofline is overlayed on the image.
difficult to be specific without proper dimensions and depending on structure and materials you could replace some of the alfresco roof with translucent roof cladding first to see how that improves light inside and then consider one or two ventilating roof windows as shown
Since your covered alfresco shares a roofline with the living area, you could definitely explore Velux or flat roof just be mindful of the structural framing. You’ll likely need to locate and work between the rafters or trusses. A builder or roofing specialist could help confirm if there’s enough fall and clearance to install without compromising integrity or waterproofing.
