A Backyard that Grows with the Family - Before/After

What was once a very small, underused backyard and side area is now a thoughtfully planned space the whole family can enjoy. With limited room to work with, every detail was considered during the design phase—from how the kids would play and move around the space to how the space could evolve as they grow. A 3D visual helped the family see how all the pieces would come together, even if it wasn’t perfect, and ensured the final layout felt cohesive and fun.

The garden now flows effortlessly from one play zone to the next, making use of every spare corner. There’s a cubby, trampoline, drawing area, sandpit, outdoor seating, and custom raised planters where the kids first learned about growing veggies — before turning it into a whimsical fairy garden (an idea sparked from simply watching them play). The existing trees were retained, a mostly native plant palette keeps maintenance low, and the design stays modern while being family-friendly.

With an eye on selling in the future, flexibility was built into the layout so it can be easily adapted as the children grow and their interests change. The result is a bright, functional backyard full of character, creativity, and plenty of space to explore, play, and relax.

Note - the trampoline and sand pit were removed to take pictures on selling the house.
