Thanks, Kate, yes I have been looking for a different TV unit but haven't found anything within my limited budget. I like the coffee table but not the TV unit, and have tried to blend old and modern with the black metal, will try moving the objects you and Dreamer suggest

If you shop your house you may find some decor items that pick up the colours of the art. You can then use those items on the tv unit and the coffee table so they become related. When you’re decorating with an eclectic style you have to still make sure that items have friends in the room bthey don’t have to be siblings eg coffee table and TV unit, or the two pieces of art. But they do best if they have at least cousins in the room.
