Laundry plumbing advice
Hello,
Can anyone advise me about this situation with my laundry plumbing? I'm organizing a plumber to come and inspect it but in the mean time I'd love to hear some advice about whether this looks normal?
When this laundry room was renovated, it was originally created by my builder with a type of built in look (on a budget) with a raised platform & panels on the side of the washing machine to hide the plumbing & pipes. I'm in a 3 storey old 1970s apartment building so the pipe in the corner that runs from the ceiling down is the greywater vertical stack. I'm now looking at tiling the floor (desperately wish I'd decided to do it back when it was all renovated but I didn't, lesson learned) and out of curiosity I decided to see if I could remove the kickboards & the panels that hid the pipes beside the washing machine and I've found that this is how the plumbing lines were done. I didn't realise that they had left it with an open section like this & I am wondering if it's actually up to code or not.
I can see that the branch line that comes off the vertical stack pipe probably presented a bit of a challenge for the space because it was kind of angled out to the side, but I just feel like surely they could have made the new attachment/join a bit closer and found a better solution to run the pipes than the way it's been done? And the plastering they've done to the branch line doesn't look very solid to me - am I overreacting or is this normal?
Also, now that I've pulled off the side panels I'm not even sure how to go about changing it or creating an aesthetically pleasing space that hides the pipes but also leaves a sensible option for access & maintenance & future owners attaching their own washing machine pipes etc.
Any advice is appreciated - please be kind as I'm a very novice renovator and still having to figure all these lessons out by myself :-(
