Hi,
I'm looking for advice and floorplan ideas for a bathroom remodel and ensuite addition.
Here is the current floorplan.
Our goal is to cost-effectively extend the current bathroom space out to the hallway and add an ensuite to the office space which will become the master.
The new space will be 3.6x2.5 (with 2.7 high ceilings).
We intend the new bathroom to be the primary family/kids (primary aged) bathroom, with a bath over shower, vanity / double vanity, and toilet instead of the existing bidet.
For the parental ensuite, we would like a shower, vanity/double vanity, and toilet.
We are looking for advice as to wether this is realistic and can be done well given the available space. And for ideas for potential layouts.
The wall between the existing bathroom and laundry is the end of the original bungalow's roofline, with the kitchen area and powder/laundry being a later poorly built addition we would like to remodel in future, and therefore don't want to extend into. The existing bathroom long past its use by data and the frame and wall are water damaged and need repair anyway.
Because one of the spaces won't have natural light, we'll plan to borrow from the other by adding a high fixed highlight window and/or skylight. We'll also need to add ventilation as there's none in place.
These are the first rough ideas we've had about possible layouts.
We are leaning to the first option which seems to lend itself to a better ensuite layout.
The second option would have the benefit of reusing the plumbing of the existing shower and bidet in place for the new ensuite, and more of the existing frame.
Option 1 (rough idea) - ensuite parallel to master:
Option 2 (rough idea) - ensuite behind master:
Any advice much appreciated!
thanks,
Jamie
