Need advice - 20 year old Misty Carrera Caesarstone benchtop

TIA - I have a 20 year old Misty Carrera Caesarstone benchtop that is dull, a few brownish patches and has quite a few chips. It is also not working with cream coloured (original) poly cupboards and white herringbone tile splashback. Can I do a makeover here (at the end of our reno budget) or should I put the $$ into new. The layout and cupboard carcass are great .... would like to update the sink though. Any ideas or feedback appreciated.

I would look at bench top resurfacing. Companies now do silica free bench tops. You could get a new sink as well..

Thank you dreamer. Great idea. i will look up this company and get a quote.

You could also see about a grind and polish of the existing Caesarstone. If you’re seriously contemplating replacement you could even try DIY re-finishing. If it were me I’d look to keep the bench top and replace other items.

I would be wary of grinding or any DIY to 20 year old caesarstone. As we now know about the health issues that breathing in the dust can course.

And with existing chips in Caesarstone, it may be NOT a diy project. I still wonder, how do people chip Caesarstone?

Thank you for the feedback. i should have included pics at the beginning. im a little hesitant to do a dyi with the silica issue but i have read about the Marble Man poultice chemical treatment to rejuvenate the caesarstone. Any thoughts around that application?

Just looked at “the marble man”. Your kitchen looks good, definitely worth getting a professional company to quote on repairing your Caesarstone. An excellent suggestion from Bigreader. Just be wary of DIY.

Thanks Dreamer. Appreciate yoir feedback. i got a quote from GT for the resurface/ overlay… best part of $20k, so i might go with restoration in the first instance.

Oh my golly gosh. That seems excessive……??

    I thought so too.

I like the look of your kitchen, I think the bench top is the best part. I’d try and save it if possible.

What about the torch style long handles - would you update those? they are 53cm long.

The handles are dated. But you may find it hard to find ones that fit the existing holes.
