Laundry or Butler's Pantry?

Hi, I'm building my first home and it's a standard off-the-plan from a mainstream first-home builder. Currently the plan has the open plan kitchen and living area, with the laundry as a separate room behind the kitchen. I am now curious about the idea of moving the laundry to the double garage (I'm a single guy so laundry isn't a priority) and opening a walkway in the kitchen wall, turning the laundry into a walk-in butler's pantry. That way I can have my appliances permanently set out and ready to use without cluttering the main kitchen. I have already specified in the plan that the garage be made 1.5m deeper and have a laundry trough plumbed in, since this is going to be my workshop space.

Has anyone tried this? Is there any reason this isn't a good idea?
