Window Treatment

To organise the best window treatment for your home, with each room having different aspects and different purpose, all need to be considered, along with personal preference:
If the window faces East, morning sun needs to be considered This is where see-through blinds first found prominence, then shutters with variable blade rotation.
If the window faces North, winter sun will penetrate the room, but summer sun will generally pass overhead. In cooler parts of Australia, these rooms become a magnet for the family and visitors.
A Westerly facing window will bear the brunt of afternoon sun, so silver-backed blinds which radiate the heat can be a necessity.
A South facing window will have little or no sun, so making these rooms cosy, keeping the appeal inside is a good way to start.

Although I have only mentioned blinds and shutters in particular, these finishes can give a cold sterile feel, so to add curtains, decorative blinds or even pelmets over the blinds and shutters soften the scene and make the room more appealing.

In certain situations, curtains can be hung in winter to limit heat loss, then packed away over summer when the outside scene becomes more relevant.g in winter to limit heat loss, then packed away over summer when the outside scene becomes more relevant.
