RANDY’S OFFICE / LIBRARY
I’ve thought about a two-story library, but don’t really want the two levels open like this on the south end. The lower level could certainly have some bookshelves on the east side especially, but I’d like the lower level room to be more of an extension of the family room into a view area. A spiral staircase toward the back (east) could connect the two levels and if the upper level had a hidden door into my master bedroom, it could still in essence be a two level viewing area. Overall, I’d like eventual space for up to 10,000 volumes, but I’m only bringing 2500 volumes with me. I’m guessing 10,000 volumes might need 500 feet of shelf space, but we’d have to research that. It would be nice, if possible, to have gas fireplaces on both levels of that south end.
Ignore all the background...and I could see seating like this in the lower part of the office area if we do each level on the south end as separate floors. We can discuss.
This could make a striking back wall to Randy’s library/office.
Don't care for the room, but the ceiling fan seems like a dandy idea if the library is upstairs.
Gotta have at least one, probably two, of these chairs in my library reading area!! Probably black.
I like the way the photograph is displayed within the library wall. I have 3 favorite photographs I’ve taken that could be displayed that way.
I like the roundedness and the way it opens into the other room (a bedroom in my case). Might be a fun spot to place a secret door!
I like the look of the fireplace and the stone, but not the wood tones.
Maybe to save some initial cost we could build in space for say 1500 - 2000 volumes and then leave wall space where additional cabinetry could be added under later years’ budgets. Just a thought.
This is just interesting because it looks like it is considering sunrise and sunset angles in the view.
The idea of a secret door from the upper level office/library into the master suite still intrigues me or maybe a door into a “safe room.”
Interesting way to do the hidden door. Wish they would show what the back side looks like.
