Lauren - Megan & Josh Basement
Hearth extension
Floating fireplace/mantle extension
We're not opposed to some color
Just saving as a neutral palette. Don't love yellow
Interesting idea...not a "must" but if it worked and was awesome...??
Style-wise I think this is too traditional/beachy for us
Agree with your comments re the cues and light. Color- and style-wise I find this space too tan and too traditional. And I hate the fabric pattern on the ottoman. But there is something very comfortable and welcoming about the space. As you pointed out, the cues and light fixture are nice focal elements in the background. I'm not a fan of plantation shutters just because they block so much of the limited light we have.
Agreed re couch being too dark and liking the flooring/paint combo
Too much going on here...which is helped by the monochromatic palette. Too...French country?
This was my favorite of the pictures you sent. I agree re the floor transition, and I don't like the white doors on the wood cabinets. But I DO like the warmth as well as the black (dark)/white (light)...I find the contrast bold yet comforting. Also like that it's simple if not a bit understated.
Another take on the versatile sofa table
Josh likes components of industrial, mid-century modern, loft, etc.
What we DON'T want. Too monochromatic, busy/confused... From this angle it doesn't read as "come, stay a while"
An idea for if we busted out the wall between the craft storage closet and the living room
A more simple hearth extension that incorporates a (more modern) window
Can't decide if I love it or would quickly tire of it, but this caught my eye
Another fun monochromatic accent wall
Interesting sofa table idea that could be mobile/versitile
This is "light enough" for a basement yet still feels warm and anchored
Not a basement at all, but this is nice.
IKEA Besta as an affordable "invisible" storage option?
This is a nice fireplace/tv relationship, but I don't know it works in our space
Loads of concealed storage would be awesome.
We've considered a shelf like this for additional seating, a place to set a drink, etc.
With such an open floorplan upstairs, we have very little room to display family photos. Would be really nice if the basement allowed a great display area (or several). This picture is more to document a need/want than "love this"
Same space, different angle
A very different feel, but the warmness of this space is nice.
Lauren, you'd had an interesting texture wall, too. Fun idea.
The pillows add just enough contrast/anchor to an otherwise neutral palette
Josh really likes a contemporary loft type of feel.
A dark ceiling to define the game room area??? Note that I don't have to differentiate this area at all...just noticing things as I go. :-)
This is kind of fun in that it doesn't feel like a basement
Hearth extension...looks like there's a window at left.
Hearth into cabinets
Another hearth extension example
I like when fireplace hearths extend and sort of become shelves...tying the areas together rather than segmenting them
These are fun game room ceiling things, too.
I love open floors (hung cabinets)
This hung ceiling is curious...maybe as a detail in the game room area to blend those two ceiling heights? Or not...???
I like the black/white contrast and linear nature of the doors -- reads as "organized". I'm not fully sold on the built-ins but could be convinced. :-) I prefer a closed storage (for a clean look) but also get that this feels more airy.
Not sure about the floor lights, but I like the cleanness and order of this space. Also the contrast (dark tones) to anchor the space.
