I just want to remind people here that this topic is around the introduction of mirrored surfaces in a kitchen. These may take on many forms, eg: mirrored pendant lights, mirrored tiles, splashbacks or simply a framed mirror. Where they are placed is important and how you accessorise.

Tracy Struggles. Thanks so much, I would be grateful. Not sure about overall look as I'm keeping white appliances while new will be inox, but unfussy and no dust traps. Right now the idea is dark (cobalt) blue lower cupboards and white or off-white upper cupboards to the ceiling in melamine, satin finish, no beading. Large tile (will need only two) for splash back, not sure of colour/texture, but nothing busy. Tiled floor is pale terracotta and stays. Question is the work surface. Granite was tempting but sadly beyond budget, even in the Alps where it's cut (and is where I live). We've had wood for 20 years - warm and no sharp corners, inexpensive, but a bind to maintain. Ideas?

Granite is out of style, or at least soon to be.

Quartz or quartzite is the way to go.

I hope that either of those will be price-friendly to you!

Best wishes.

P.S. The Alps are absolutely gorgeous!!!
