Farmhouse Great Room
Love the bench! This versatile piece could be used in BR, LR (table) or DR bench! 1. Consider how many people you need to seat for dinner every day and how many just occasionally. 2. Consider a smaller table with leaves, or extra pull-up (card or drop leaf) tables when needed. If you serve a big crowd only once or twice a year, consider rearranging other furniture (in new DR) and bringing in chairs.
Is this a possible furniture arrangement and use of apartment side wall? Door to apartment could stay on right side, with balancing art or mirror on left.
Incorporate beam (if needed) with post (if needed) with encasement for wood stove.
What combined kitchen-GR space might look like with wall down (beam). Hint of entrance from hallway on right (white door frame barely visible). Explore if door to basement stairs from kitchen can be closed off (to create additional shallow storage). Preserve basement access with door (or no door) from main hallway.
Furniture arrangement and decor
Create partial wall for TV on kitchen side? Need to think about where tv goes (daylight glare, etc) in GR
Single ottoman for coffee table or for extra seating
Smaller table with easy leaf (or pullout option) to expand whenever needed -- will create more space in GR. Color scheme!
Bench, or high back (like this one) that tucks in to conserve space, but also creates good transition/separation between kitchen and GR. Also consider multiple (2?) benches for easier maneuvering. Would store end chairs for table elsewhere in house unless lots of company.
Love this style..greenery, naturals, light, wood casings, candles glowing, furniture arrangement..everything! Mirrors on apartment wall with flame less candles could be pretty
Need to decide how many feet allotted to island, dining table and rest of GR, along with glass doors out to view. Make sure view from front door is fab!
Furniture arrangement, but would like to make better use of corners.
Decor, feature wood wall....tv?
Expanded opening into GR from kitchen.
Notice centered stove and tall vent opposite GR! In our application, dining table oriented L-R (opposite direction of island in photo) instead of island. Still like idea of narrow tall cabinets or columns/posts to create illusion of transition/separation between kitchen and GR.
Use built-out cab for fridge as divider between rooms...?
Like mirrors and perimeter lighting on apartment wall in GR.
Large open doors and windows like these opening onto patio or screened porch
How many doors can we add to back of house? How about this one at back end of house (facing view) from dining table...?
French doors behind sofa
Another focal point in room between doors and windows in GR
I don't think so, but consider if round table (with fplc nearby & after old glass cabinet removed) allows more space for GR furniture. Most dinners will be fewer than 10. Consider bringing chlor drop lef table to conserve space.
Add glass door (with fabric) to apartment instead of panels...?
Use of vertical space above fplc in great room. Can have Windows/doors out to view on either side.
If no fplc, then still consider painted feature wall, rustic shelving and under cabinets for storage. Seating can be placed in front
Pretty room. Lots of ideas
Simple furniture arrangement like this, but need to think of comfortable seating for D/B. Can we expose ceiling for a little more height?
PRetty colored chairs (DR table side) and built-in shelves for tv. Lighting in kitchen is attractive.
Beams and partial wall with lighting to divide kitchen and GR
Like this - light color scheme plus black and white, slipcovered furniture. Ad second white sofa on long wall and keep 2 more chairs (like this) next to dining table. Keep/add Windows and doors to view.
Maybe this for TV placement (on apartment wall) with a second sofa/chairs on "Toys" wall. Like lots of Windows/doors on back of house in this room. Also consider TV on swing arm in GR or in new DR-sitting room
Create tall focal point on apt wall (opposite range + hood in kitchen?), make left wall decor/architecture to balance door (on right) into apt. Consider camouflaging this door as option. Put as many doors/windows as possible along back (view) side of house.
Two light fixtures eliminate need for multiple table lamps. Also like bench to tuck into table to conserve space. Light colored flooring/rug (indoor-outdoor) to lighten...? Console table behind couch with new exit doors open walkway between couch and table.
Ideas if we need to create a funky wall or divider between kitchen and GR. This thick wall provides a good balance of separation and connection between the kitchen and family room. To the left, the wall contains the media equipment and TV for the family room. On the opposite side, it accommodates additional kitchen cabinets and a broom closet. It also hides plumbing and electric infrastructure as well as a beam. The special seating niche is the funky quirk in this space. It is outlined in walnut wood and serves both rooms.
Like this open layout with posts for support and open glass doors on back. These doors can open onto screened porch.
Color scheme. Glass door to apartment, even if cover with fabric? Glass door/s to outside, FPLCS (double-sided) toward screened porch? Need to decide if porch is on back or on right. Either way, keep open pitch to ceiling to preserve view.
Colors, vases on table with varying displays. Chandy over table to anchor area.
Open it up and use columns for support?
