Take some time out from the daily grind and do a bit of daydreaming over these impressively burly showers. You might not have space for a decorative boulder or a fully enclosed steam room, but you will be surprised at how inspiring these incredible shower rooms are – they’re sure to encourage you to take your own space to the next level. Whatever you take away from these impressive designs, you’re bound to feel refreshed and rejuvenated by them. So sit back and let them wash away your cares.

1. Boulder over
Imagine having such an enormous bathroom that you could place boulder in the centre, and use it as a sink basin! This impressive bathroom has it all: a tactile, freestanding carved-stone bath, a fabulous walk-in rainfall shower with stunning views onto the garden, and a boulder to wash your hands in to top off the experience.

2. Picture window
There couldn’t be a better way to start your day than showering next to a view like this. Disappearing doors open the bathroom onto a seemingly floating ledge, and the doorway frames the view as if it’s an oil painting. Water drains from the walk-in shower into a simple linear drain, while the same earth-toned tiles are used from floor to ceiling to fuse with the natural environment.

3. Pillar of strength
Almost hidden from view when you first walk in, this contemporary pillar shower makes good use of the relatively compact space and allows access from both sides.

4. Grand statement
The designer of this breathtaking shower enclosure deserves high praise for retaining the beauty and integrity of the period features, while introducing a highly contemporary enclosure using classic materials. The marble slab is the star of the show, and it contrasts with the rustic floorboards for a unique look. You wouldn’t want to leave your shampoos out and clutter up this decadent shower!

5. Enclosed steam room
While you might not have the space for a luxurious steam shower like this one, it’s possible to upgrade your existing shower and install a steam generator that will match the size of your own enclosure. Steam showers are thought to improve circulation, help with skin care, relieve muscle pains and help with stress management, so why wouldn’t you want to bring this fabulous spa experience to your home?

6. Waterfall wash
Fed up with the feeble spray that greets you each morning? Then invest in an oversized showerhead and you’ll immerse yourself in the cascading drench that will refresh and awaken your sleepy self. A ceiling-mounted showerhead will enhance the spa-like experience and create a hefty downpour.

7. Double bubble
Dual showers are a luxurious touch that you often find in boutique hotels or resorts, but they’re now making their way into our homes to ease the morning rush, as well as being a romantic feature. The key is to ensure the space you have is practical and functional, with plenty of room for two to wash comfortably without bumping into each other. It’s also wise to fit separate thermostatic controls for each shower so they can be operated individually.

8. Jet setting
Body jets can be a magical addition to any shower as they will give you an invigorating massage no matter how many you decide to fit. They can be installed flush with the wall or project outwards, but it’s important to consider your water pressure and whether you have enough warm water to power the entire system for the whole time you are showering.

9. At one with nature
You’d have to be in a pretty remote spot to brave this exposed shower, but the experience of washing within these natural surroundings would be one to remember. Bi-fold doors make this space work as an outdoor or an indoor space, depending on the weather.

10. Pipe dreams
These imposing shower pipes take industrial style to another level, and one might think they would be more at home in a factory setting. The slick metal pipework marries with the smooth pebble walls for an extraordinary showering experience, while the bright red taps are a delightful surprise.
