My large yellow dog was a firm favourite with all the tradesmen when my reno was happening. I did have to make sure she wasn't under their feet when they were busy but that wasn't too difficult. And we were out for a lot of the time - for my sake as well as the dog's. Only thing I noticed was the builder chose to have his lunch in his van! Where Betty the woof could not reach his tucker with her ravenous appetite! A large dog slavering over your food is not to be encouraged!

Oh, the cat moving problem; I have not actually moved a cat but have brought a rescue cat into my home. Same thing I suppose. I was advised to keep him inside for at least a week but the poor cat HATED the litter box and was just about climbing the walls in a few days. I relented and let him out after about 5 days. He took off, over the fence and away. Wondered if I would ever see him again but within half an hour he reappeared and was content to explore inside and out from then on. I think that if it is YOUR cat you are moving with he/she will want to stick close to familiar people and the furniture etc that he recognises. I really don't see the need to spend weeks or even months acclimatising a cat! They know the hand that feeds them - they are pretty clever when it comes to self preservation. Trust your cat. A few days inside should be all it needs. Good luck!
