I have never been a fan of open plan living and during Covid lock downs it has shown it's inadequacies.

A large kitchen so many activities can take place in the "new" hub. An island with a lower dining end so children can do their homework without knees against the island, drop in guests can sit comfortably without feet dangling and loosing circulation and great for the cook to sit while doing longer kitchen tasks.

A dining area away from the kitchen noises gives a far more intimate dining experience. An away room for watching a movie so the entire family is not forced to hear or see it.

A larger gathering space for family and friends to socialise without a large screen dominating the space.

That is my ideal space for the functional and social aspects of family living.

Better sound proofing of doors and walls for working from home. Better roof insulation for warmth. An extra bathroom for covid hygiene. An extra dog for extra working from home happiness. A fitted out garage with heating/cooling and skylights for home gym and private teen hangout.
