I first saw Frank Gehry’s Mama Cloud lights in Milan several years ago, and thought how perfect they would be for a child’s room. Even though they’re set in the foyer in the photo below, they’d still add that stunning touch of whimsy to the room where your child’s imagination will grow (and go places). We can’t all afford Gehry, but there are other unique lights – designer, bespoke and otherwise – such as these:

Can’t be bothered? Shops like Typo sell alphabet lights like these on the left that you can use to indicate initials, spell a child’s name or the theme of the room.
