For centuries, many cultures have embraced the yielding form of a good arch and, more recently, neuroscientists have proven that our brains respond positively to architectural curves. On the other hand, some people dream of squaring off any pesky arches that date their homes. Whichever camp you fall into, the humble arch has enjoyed something of a revival in recent years – see these 32 fine examples.
