Brief
The aim was to open up a couple of very small spaces and to combine washing machine facilities within the total bathroom fit-out.

Starting point
I removed a very old bath that hadn’t been used in years. This enabled me to create a large, open shower, and I added a skylight to bring in lots of natural light.

The bathroom vanity was custom-made to accommodate a washing machine, with the washer under the left-hand side and a pull-out basket beneath the right.
Key design aspects
Colour palette: I ran with a green tone throughout the bathroom, starting with a two-pack polyurethane vanity colour in Dulux Olive Leaf, which was used for the mirrored cabinet. This then led to the selection of a green-toned mosaic-marble tile for the main wall in the shower.

The vanity opposite the toilet
Key pieces of furniture/fittings: All other wall tiles are porcelain tiles from Moorabbin Tile. The floor tiles are a charcoal porcelain, also from Moorabbin Tile. The pendant light was custom-made and supplied through About Space Lighting. The basin is from Reece.

Why do you think this room works?
The room and space now look a lot better than when I started… The bathroom is much more light-filled and spacious.

Like the WM incorporated into the vanity. Must be a small unit though - mine wouldn't fit into that space. Very good use of small space.
How much did it cost to add the skylight?
Love the colours in this bathroom, particularly the way the black has been tied in through the tapware, basins and shower frame. I do wonder how often you'd have to clean black basins though, white soap scum would surely be a nightmare. Overall, a beautiful design in a relatively tight space.
