A moody, luxurious paint colour from Farrow & Ball has the design world swooning

If Instagram trends and saved photos on Houzz are anything to go by, the design world has a serious colour crush on a particular paint shade right now – Farrow & Ball’s ‘Hague Blue’. Rich, dramatic and luxurious, it’s easy to see the appeal. Farrow & Ball describe the colour as “a deep dark blue” inspired by Dutch woodwork. But up close it’s so much more than that – inky blue at times, near black at others and a tad greenish when the light hits it just so. A true chameleon of blues.

Feast your eyes on these images of the popular colour in action. As you can see, it looks incredible on timber panelling and can make your whites pop like nobody’s business. You can’t buy Farrow & Ball paint in Australia, but it is possible to source similarly beautiful hues – check out Porter’s Paints’ ‘Obsidian’, Dulux’s ‘Maximus’, Murobond’s ‘Boro 2’ from its The Society Inc collection, and ‘Viking’ from the Haymes Interior Expressions range. Every house we’ve lived in I’ve always had a dark blue some where. This time in the kitchen island and our bedroom! Love it!
