Cream cabinets give a kitchen a warm, inviting feel, and the shade is soft enough to complement many different colours. From deep blue to calming sage, take a look at these combinations.
Team with: blue
Blue is the ideal colour for giving a fun, contemporary feel to your cream cabinets. The neutral units around the perimeter of this kitchen are pared-back and elegant, and would have worked alone as a chic, sophisticated scheme. However, the designers have decided to give the room a bold, modern twist with their choice of bright blue for the kitchen island.
Blue is on the cool end of the colour spectrum, so it complements the warm tones in the cream.

Team with: red
Bring out the warm tones in cream by pairing it with bright red. The two colours work well together, because red brings zing to cream surfaces, while ivory hues give a mellow warmth to bright red.
This bold splashback adds interest to the sleek, contemporary units and gives the space a cosy look. The addition of timber-effect cabinetry and a solid wood table also boosts the earthy feel.

Team with: black and white
Give a warmer feel to a black-and-white palette by mixing in some cream. Here, traditional Shaker-style units frame the jet-black benchtop and marble splashback. The slick combination of black and white looks contemporary and minimal, but the cream colour changes the feel completely.

Team with: white
If you want a clean, fresh look, don’t be afraid to keep your colour scheme neutral. Here, cream units are teamed with walls painted and tiled in crisp white. The pale hues are warmed up by the timber surfaces on the benchtops and floor, and vivid shades are added with a few brightly coloured accessories.

Soft cream is the perfect backdrop to tone down bold shades. The green in this kitchen, for example, is wonderfully vivid, but could be too striking for some. However, the cream units help to slightly mute the bold tones for a space that feels warm, natural and fresh.

Team with: orange
These cashmere kitchen units have a gentle tone that feels soft and pared back. To give the space added zing, the designers have complemented the plain cream cabinets with a few striking orange accents. The plastic stool and citrus-coloured pendant look vivid against the mellow hues elsewhere.

Team with: sage
For a colour that’s as soft and gentle as your cream units, you can’t go wrong with sage green. This kitchen is beautifully calm with its mix of ivory wall units and the pale green kitchen island. The warm tones in both colours work well together to create a tranquil, elegant space.

Sage would nicely compliment the natural tones of the cream and brown. I would go with sage.
Forgot to add, it’s difficult to tell from the image, but only the plumb pillows
look purple...the couch looks navy. if that’s the case, I think sage would have a nicer overall effect and better blend with the cabinet/counter colors and kitchen/living room walls which are more significant parts that catch the eye (and harder to change) than pillows. You could always remove the plum colored pillows to use in another room. Again, it’s difficult to tell from the image, but as a safe rule of thumb, when styling, I try to mix no more than 3 different colors and then use various shades
/patterns/textures of those 3 colors to add depth. Anything more than 3 base colors and it begins too look a bit too much in my opinion. Good luck!!
We used a lot of black and white however, we didn't use white cabinetry against the cream cupboards as we felt it would look mismatched and I believed the black was a better contrast to bring out the warm beige tone in the cream.
We had a cream second hand display kitchen that needed to be used in our latest reno (it only cost $500) but it didn't have everything needed so we ordered black drawer fronts and oven surrounds for one side of the galley kitchen and then built a black microwave cabinet for the other side. With left over melamine we were able to do a black side panel and kickboards saving $$. Black checker plate worked nice for an easy splash back along with matt white subway tiles and black grout.
Our aim for this kitchen was to up-cycle many left over items from other reno's into a small space that used to be a laundry room. All this while also trying to make things match and keep to our coastal industrial theme. This meant doing things like using upper cabinets as base cabinets on one side and spray painting the stainless Steele rangehood exhaust black to blend in with the theme.

Yes, that is a washing machine in the kitchen, we went European style (no space for it any where else) and the oven surrounds were not in when these pics were taken.
