A living space in which you swim, cook and eat

The organic shape of the island was inspired woodland mushrooms. The concrete island arises from the floor and is cantilevered out to form a small kitchen with induction hob, sink and raised height bar. Custom made with hidden steel structure, its natural forms are in sympathy with body movements and flow of water; appropriate for use in an environment for relaxing, swimming and socializing. The mould was constructed as a plywood structural 3D frame, sculpted out of high density foam, then coated in casting plaster. Liquid concrete was poured in and left to cure for four weeks. The end cast was exhaustively hand sanded, polished and waxed. Waterproof iPad controls allow music, heat level and light levels and colour intensity to be adjusted whilst in the Jacuzzi or swimming pool!
