Moving the cabinet uppers to one pantry wall allowed us to open up to the outside which makes the kitchen feel more spacious. To learn more about our small houses or to attend one of our workshops please visit our blog. http://seattlebackyardcottage.blogspot.com/p/projects.html

Challenges of a Small Kitchen. "How can we add a dishwasher and increase storage to our already small kitchen?" A good question for sure. We tucked the refrigerator into what had been a hall closet, encorporated a neat rolling cabinet/cutting board 'under' the new (handmade by owner) oak table, replaced a window into a new place, removed an space wasting unused brick chimney, strategically added many storage cabinets and removed bearing walls. The countertops are a combination of soapstone and Quartzite. We even squeezed in the "small but pretty" farm sink! "Lance Kramer (project manager) kept us informed every step, kept the job clean, did great work" ...and with a twinkle in his eye ... " I'd recommend you do not fire him". Richard L." No danger there! Great job K Team.

By shifting the location of the office door, we were able to recoup much need space for the kitchen and extend the sink counter to stretch the entire length of the wall. White inset cabinets along with white appliances reflect light and create a cheery atmosphere. Smooth green wall paint and red granite add personality and excitement. Peter Rymwid Photgraphy Beautifully classic two toned kitchen using rift cut white oak cabinetry on the perimeter with a moss green painted island combine to create a warm inviting kitchen for family and friends. A large doubled sided fireplace keeps the home fires burning. Natural slate tile on the back splash and a copper farm sink add textural details. This warm and inviting kitchen pays homage to the craftsmanship of american made cabinets. Each detail works together to paint a vivid picture of the room known as the "heart of the home". Every view gives the eye something to enjoy from the beautiful stone tile splash to the rubbed bronze hardware.

Bonus Solution: Working Hardware AFTER: Megan added sleek, brushed-brass cabinet pulls to give the remaining cabinet fronts an upgrade. For the two nonworking drawers that front the sink, she fitted two extra-long pulls, and now I have a great place to hang dish towels. Photos by Lesley Unruh.
