Coburg Frieze is a purified design that questions what’s really needed.
The interwar property was transformed into a long-term family home that celebrates lifestyle and connection to the owners’ much-loved garden. Prioritising quality over quantity, the crafted extension adds just 25sqm of meticulously considered space to our clients’ home, honouring Dieter Rams’ enduring philosophy of “less, but better”.
We reprogrammed the original floorplan to marry each room with its best functional match – allowing an enhanced flow of the home, while liberating budget for the extension’s shared spaces. Though modestly proportioned, the new communal areas are smoothly functional, rich in materiality, and tailored to our clients’ passions. Shielding the house’s rear from harsh western sun, a covered deck creates a protected threshold space to encourage outdoor play and interaction with the garden.
This charming home is big on the little things; creating considered spaces that have a positive effect on daily life.

The sophisticated contrast of black and white shines in this Jamestown, RI bathroom remodel. The white subway tile walls are accented with black grout and complimented by the 8x8 black and white patterned floor and niche tiles. The shower and faucet fittings are from Kohler in the Loure and Honesty collections.

This 1980s bathroom was gutted and redesigned to fit with the craftsman aesthetic of the rest of the house. A continuous band of handmade Motawi ginkgo tiles runs the perimeter of the room. Rich green walls (Benjamin Moore CC-664 Provincal Park) provide a contrast to the crisp white subway tiles in two sizes and the wainscot (Benjamin Moore CC-20 Decorator’s White).

Paul Zimmerman photo. This well - traveled client has spent time in Africa and wanted to bring that flavor to her hall bath!
The multi-colored natural stone allowed her to mix wood with wall colors and bronze fixtures for a wonderful native feel.

Asian influences in this bath designed by Maraya Interiors. Carved stone bathtub, with ceiling plumbing, behind the tub is an open shower with green Rainforest slabs. The shower floor features pebbles, contrasting with the natural slate floors of the master bath itself. Granite stone vessel sinks sit on a black granite counter, with a teak vanity in this large bath overlooking the city.
Designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Malibu, Westlake and Calabasas, across the tri-county areas of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills- north through Solvang and more
