The interwar property was transformed into a long-term family home that celebrates lifestyle and connection to the owners’ much-loved garden. Prioritising quality over quantity, the crafted extension adds just 25sqm of meticulously considered space to our clients’ home, honouring Dieter Rams’ enduring philosophy of “less, but better”. We reprogrammed the original floorplan to marry each room with its best functional match – allowing an enhanced flow of the home, while liberating budget for the extension’s shared spaces. Though modestly proportioned, the new communal areas are smoothly functional, rich in materiality, and tailored to our clients’ passions. Shielding the house’s rear from harsh western sun, a covered deck creates a protected threshold space to encourage outdoor play and interaction with the garden. This charming home is big on the little things; creating considered spaces that have a positive effect on daily life.

The volcanic limestone soaking tub in a sophisticated sexy shape, and the patterned marble floor in a beautiful Beau Monde Mosaic custom blend of Thassos, Ming Green, and Cloud Nine Marble sets the stage. Compact and Unique with a Chic Sophisticated Style.

We used the concept of a European wet room to maximize shower space. The natural and aqua color scheme is carried through here and seen in the unique tile inset. The straight lines of the brick set tile are offset by the organic pebble floor.

To give the bathroom a more open feel we removed a pony wall and bathtub, added a large shower and carved out space for "his" and "hers" vanities. Glass shower doors make the room feel larger and allow light to floods the entire space. Intense color draws you into this bathroom. the herringbone tile floor is heated, and has a good non slip surface. We tried mixing brass with mattle black in this bathroom, and it looks great!

The goal of this bath was to create a spa-like feel. Opting for the dominant color of white accented by sage green contributed to the successful outcome. A 54” white vanity with double sinks topped with Carrera marble continued the monochromatic color scheme. The Eva collection of Moen brand fixtures in a brushed nickel finish were selected for the faucet, towel ring, paper holder, and towel bars. Double bands of glass mosaic tile and niche backing accented the 3x6 Brennero Carrera tile on the shower walls. A Moentrol valve faucet was installed in the shower in order to have force and flow balance.
