This 1960s home was in original condition and badly in need of some functional and cosmetic updates. We opened up the great room into an open concept space, converted the half bathroom downstairs into a full bath, and updated finishes all throughout with finishes that felt period-appropriate and reflective of the owner's Asian heritage.

Powder room

After assessing the Feng Shui and looking at what we had to work with, I decided to salvage the Florentine marble countertop and floors, as well as the "glam" vanity cabinet. People fought me on this, but I emerged victorious :-) By choosing this Thibaut Honsu wallpaper, the green marble is downplayed, and the wallpaper becomes the star of the show. We added a bamboo mirror, some bamboo blinds, and a poppy red light fixture to add some natural elements and whimsy to the space. The result? A delightful surprise for guests.

De l’autre côté de l’appartement, on retrouve l’espace parental constitué d’un bureau – idéal pour télétravailler, d’une suite élégamment mise en valeur par un papier peint doux signé Rebelwalls, d’une salle de bain attenante ultra fonctionnelle incluant douche à l’italienne, baignoire îlot et WC, sans oublier d’un grand espace dressing.

Il pavimento è di due colori diversi per motivi di sicurezza: il piccolo scalino di 6 cm non poteva essere eliminato per motivi strutturali, pertanto è stato deciso di differenziare nettamente le due zone al fine di evitare di inciampare. Tutti i mobili di questo bagno sono stati realizzati su disegno dell'architetta e dipinti con smalto decor di Kerakoll Design, in uno dei colori della nuova collezione.

Creating a vanity from an antique chest keeps the vintage charm of the home intact.

This guest bathroom full renovation included new shower wall tile and penny floor tile, accent wallpaper, fresh paint, a custom-built vanity and linen closet, new vanity countertop, all new plumbing fixtures, vanity mirror and sconce lighting, a custom shower curtain, floating shelf, artwork, vintage Turkish rug, and bath accessories.

The back of this 1920s brick and siding Cape Cod gets a compact addition to create a new Family room, open Kitchen, Covered Entry, and Master Bedroom Suite above. European-styling of the interior was a consideration throughout the design process, as well as with the materials and finishes.
