Bougainvillea Row House

Set in a typical Woollahra row of terraced houses, a 1950s two-storey ugly duckling of a house nestled between its Victorian neighbours. Almost three quarters of this original structure was demolished and replaced this tall and lean, three storey home for a film director and his young family An oversized, 3.5m tall window framed with a Juliet balcony at its base and a steel hood are the protagonists of the street front performance, the provide a visual conversation with the passers-by. The upper level of the master bedroom has a recessed panoramic window to contemplate the ample views of Sydney Harbour and Bellevue Hill across the valley. © Justin Alexander
