The translucent like quality of the marble island bench becomes apparent in the morning when sunlight shines across it.

This semi-detached inner suburban Edwardian home was in original condition but for limited 1960’s improvements to the kitchen, bathroom & laundry. The brief was to create a contemporary residence encompassing the heritage context with every modern amenity and embracing the opportunities of a rear northern exposure.

For this home in the Canberra suburb of Forde, Studio Black Interiors gave the ensuite an interior design makeover. Studio Black was responsible for re-designing the ensuite and selecting the finishes and fixtures to make the ensuite feel more modern and practical for this family home. Custom designed and lacquered slatted curved ends to the overheads add texture and interest to the chalky matte cabinetry The use of existing timber that had been used in other areas of the home, not wanting to waste the beautiful pieces, I incorporated these into the design The kitchen needed a modern transformation, selection of chalky black slabbed doors are carefully considered whilst detailed curved slatted ends bounce natural light, concrete grey matte benches, reflective glass custom coloured back splash and solid timber details creates a beautifully modern industrial elegant interior.

This contemporary light filled kitchen is the heart of this home. The induction V-Zug cooktop sits on top of a gorgeous marble counter. The fridge is hidden behind sleek v-groove joinery, with the butlers pantry and desk tucked away behind. Designed by the clever Heartly crew, joinery crafted by Evolve Interiors.
