Artistic Tile
Interior designer Judith Goldsmith Lazaros of JGL Interiors chose to do a custom Artistic Tile backsplash for her Woodmere, NY client's kitchen. With the help of our NYC A&D showroom Manager, Claudia DiFabio, our Claridges pattern was crafted in Mingus Grey and Ice White Jazz Glass for a cool, clean and contemporary look.

Although the home is in its 100th year, the owners wanted to create an updated urban style reflective of their downtown location. The new styling, while sleek and contemporary, kept a traditional feel with a paneled door styling, crystal chandeliers and an updated glass version of subway tile. We were also able to create an open kitchen with a 3’8 ½” x 7’ 5 ½” island centered on a gourmet Wolf cooking area.

This kitchen renovation was really marked by transforming the space as much as replacing the cabinets and appliances. Originally the kitchen cabinets ran all the way to the back of what now is the pantry, creating a very awkward dead end. By creating the pantry, we added a great deal of storage and were able to make this layout less like an abyss. We also used lighter cabinets and better lighting to make the space feel more elegant and open.

This black paneled refrigerator brings a sleek design to this modern galley kitchen. The contrasting colors add dramatic visual interest to the space and the serving area above the stove adds the open concept that the homeowners were looking for. A dramatic space was whaty we were going for when we designed this condominium for our client. We created exactly what he had hoped for and more with a simplistic enviroment. From the netruals of taupe and graythe the pop of color in the art work we have achieved what we set out to do. Most of the furnishings are custom built and all of the pieces were finished just for our client. This makes the look one of a kind.
