This project was for a young professional that had just completed graduate school and was on a tight budget. A creative combination of their own pieces and a few new ones made this small living room cozy, multi-functional, and sophisticated. Photo taken by Emily Dobbins.

expanded living room in a 1910 house. Seller often used this room as a main-stage for large musical gatherings and performances. Super-pleased to use many of the sellers treasures including the spinning wheel, pie chest, bench and slim cabinet.

Chapter One Interiors and Ambient Lounge SG helped create this beautiful lower level apartment with exposed brick that uses is light and comfortable for living. The very small living room space is solved by using the Ambient Lounge Twin Couch bean bag and Vera Table as it's showpiece furniture. The tone of the Eco Weave fabric balances the exposed brick and wood features and creates light textures that make the feeling so relax but stylish.

This eclectic living room in Maplewood, Missouri has an easy blend of vintage and modern elements. A modern, geometric rug feels at home next to the traditional sofa and vintage chest of drawers. Blues ranging from watery turquoise to deep cobalt bring vibrant color into an otherwise neutral space. Materials and textures from exposed brick to wood to metal provide depth and visual interest. Plants and natural light create a sense of calm and well-being.

After; We brightened the space by repainting the dark accent wall in the same sand color as the rest of the room. But the key to the transformation was repositioning the sofa. "Shopping the house" turned up an artisan-made low wooden bench perfectly sized to place in front of the window, The bench, which now allows the shutters to be opened and closed as needed, turned the seating area into a convivial "U" shape that is ideal for entertaining. We relocated a drop-leaf table to behind the couch and topped it with an elegant new lamp and a plant in a white ceramic pot. The worn leather sofa was transformed by covering it with an indigo blue Shibori-dot patterned quilt, and adding color and pattern with new throw pillows. Finally, we created a gallery wall behind the sofa with four beach-themed paintings that had been scattered around the house, and also relocated a larger painting of a seaside scene to an adjacent wall. This living room is comfortable but also practical for this pet-friendly family home. The sisal rug is hard wearing while the rug is easy-to-clean with the mottled pattern ideal for hiding imperfections. The sofa has an easy-clean fabric coating but the covers are also removable for those inevitable emergency-clean situations.
