Entering in through the living room, the Mohrman's creative nature is immediately evident. A neutral grey sectional acts as a springboard for the bright patterns of Chelsea's handmade pillows and lampshades. "We enjoy easy decorating with budget friendly items or fun DIYs", explains Chelsea, whom offers instruction on many of her crafting projects on her blog, Farm Fresh Therapy. The couple search antique malls and flea markets for the majority of their decor, often times adapting them to a new purpose. The illuminated "M" for example, was an internet find. While the channel letter was a vintage purchase from Etsy, the Mohrman's added necessary components to give it a glowing marquee effect. Sofa, IKEA; Tables, MidWest Woods Furniture Co. This wooden media cabinet was stripped, up-cycled and re-styled using the Ancient Japanese Burning technique of Yakisugi also known as Shou Sugi Ban. Now a functional low sideboard or media cabinet, the wood was BURNT with a blow torch which helps strengthen the wood and makes the woodgrain POP! Once cleaned with a wire brush to remove any excess residue, we applied a premium pink wood glaze followed by several layers of furniture oil. The black octopus handles add a pop art/maximalist feel, transforming it into a unique, one-of-a-kind statement piece. Dimensions: W 900 x D 440 x H 480mm

Adamik and Churney provided for a dividing wall to separate the kitchen from the living area, a decision that expanded possibilities in terms of how to best layout the space. At merely five-feet tall, the partition maintains the open-air feeling of the space, yet is ample enough to accommodate the entertainment center. In order to unify the Living and Dining areas, Adamik chose a large-scale seagrass rug. It is latex-padded, making it not only comfortable under foot, but also an improvement in terms of sound dampening. "I layered an indigo blue Pakistani Gabbeh over the seagrass to define the living room," the designer explains. The layering of various textures and materials adds to the room's understated depth.
