The existing powder room was outdated. It had not been changed since the home was built 30 years. We designed the room to flow with the contemporary feel of the surrounding spaces and furnishings. To update the powder bathroom, we chose a stainless steel vessel sink centered in the bamboo cabinet the wall was tiled in honed marble carved in a contemporary “stream” design. An illusion of height was created by running the tile vertically in contrast to the horizontal grain of the caramelized bamboo cabinetry. The mirror was framed in limestone and glass mosaics and flanked by iron wall sconces.

This pink powder room (wall color is a custom color that started with Porter Paints Rose Pomander as the base) packs a lot of glamor into a small space. The vanity is a Franz Viegner Casablanca lavatory with a white ceramic bowl. The faucet is a Brizio Charlotte in Cocoa Bronze. The diagonal set marble floor tile is Travertine Mediterranean in Ivory Honed. The antiqued silver vanity mirror is from Sergio. Photo by Toby Weiss for Mosby Building Arts.

Everything HomeEverything Home
Every detail of this European villa-style home exudes a uniquely finished feel. Our design goals were to invoke a sense of travel while simultaneously cultivating a homely and inviting ambience. This project reflects our commitment to crafting spaces seamlessly blending luxury with functionality. In the powder room, the existing vanity, featuring a thick rock-faced stone top and viny metal base, served as the centerpiece. The prior Italian vineyard mural, loved by the clients, underwent a transformation into the realm of French Art Deco. The space was infused with a touch of sophistication by incorporating polished black, glistening glass, and shiny gold elements, complemented by exquisite Art Deco wallpaper, all while preserving the unique character of the client's vanity. --- Project completed by Wendy Langston's Everything Home interior design firm, which serves Carmel, Zionsville, Fishers, Westfield, Noblesville, and Indianapolis. Wilson Kelsey DesignWilson Kelsey Design
Wilson Kelsey Design transformed an existing water closet off of the foyer into this delightful jewel box powder room. The powder room's layout was altered to create a grand entrance while maximizing privacy. In the foreground, an antique medallion is inlaid in a custom door, hinting at something special inside. Gold sconces and a large gold mirror frame the freeform molten gold glass pedestal sink. Marble floors, luxury wallpaper, and gorgeous fabric heighten the decadence, as does the classical arched wall niche, which serves as a focal point for the room. WKD’s design brief was to infuse graceful grandeur for entertaining into this former 1907 stable and carriage house. One would imagine that the carriage house held, at least to some degree, historic and beautiful architectural details. However, this was not the case. Everything – architectural moldings, flooring, hardware, etc. - were designed and fabricated to the designer’s specifications. The home features a stunning French-style salon, elaborate adjacent dining room, a handsome paneled library, a Tuscan inspired gourmet kitchen and dining area, a wet bar, a beautifully landscaped outdoor terrace, and a stunning master bath. The project has received numerous regional and national awards and has been published several times. Wanting to add some zing to this traditional powder room we used a color not usually used in the rest of the home. Because people spend a short amount of time in a powder room it enables you to go bolder with your wall treatment choices. The awkward niche space was filled in nicely with an industrial pharmacy cabinet, found at a Round Top antique show. Touches of bronze bring it all together. Kaskel Photo

This reflected detail of the life-sized allegorical figure "Summer," arrayed in the bounty of the season, is part of a transformational mural in a tiny powder room in an historic 18th-century home near Philadelphia. The powder room is visible from the main entry hall. The homeowners are collectors of important ceramic art and paintings. The muralist, Baltimore artist Jo Brown, designed the mural from a small illustration ca. 1910. The faux-painted sink surround was an existing design element.
