This basement’s bar area rivals any sports bar! The large football mural is actually laser-cut customized wallpaper. The bar itself was created out of reclaimed pine with a honed granite counter and support bars and footrails made from reclaimed black pipes. The front of the bar has wood trim offset by steel inlays. Behind the bar there is a sink and beverage center, complete with an icemaker and wine refrigerator. That distinctive backsplash is whitewashed “Chicago” brick and it is a great focal point that offsets the TV. The adjacent eating area has weathered shiplap walls and a silver, tin ceiling. The column separating the two spaces is wood with steel inlays, the same steel that was used beneath the front of the bar. Welcome to this sports lover’s paradise in West Chester, PA! We started with the completely blank palette of an unfinished basement and created space for everyone in the family by adding a main television watching space, a play area, a bar area, a full bathroom and an exercise room. There is a space for everyone in the family in this expansive finished basement. One side of the basement houses a gym and playroom.

This renovated space included a newly designed, elaborate bar, a comfortable entertainment area, a full bathroom, and a large open children’s play area. Several wall mounted televisions, and a fully integrated surround sound system throughout the whole finished space make this a perfect spot for watching sports or catching a movie. When the family built a brand new home in Wentzville, they purposely left the walk-out basement unfinished so they learn what they wanted from that space. Two years later they knew the basement should serve as a multi-tasking lower level, effectively creating a 3rd story of their home. Mosby transformed the basement into a family room with built-in cabinetry and a gas fireplace. Off the family room is a spacious guest bedroom (with an egress window) that leads to a full bathroom with walk-in shower. That bathroom is also accessed by the new hallway with walk-in closet storage, access to an unfinished utility area and a bright and lively craft room that doubles as a home office. There’s even additional storage behind a sliding barn door. Design details that add personality include softly curved edges on the walls and soffits, a geometric cut-out on the stairwell and custom cabinetry that carries through all the rooms. The unique layout of the basement floorplan creates room for a dedicated pool area, bar with seating, media area with couch and fireplace, theatre room, and a small office.

The basement serves as a hang out room, and office for Malcolm. Nostalgic jerseys from Ohio State, The Saints, The Panthers and more line the walls. The main decorative wall is a span of 35 feet with a floor to ceiling white and gold wallpaper. It’s bold enough to hold up to all the wall hangings, but not too busy to distract.
